Product Safety Engineer

As the Product Safety Engineer, you will be called upon to liaise with other technical specialists, occasionally managing a team of engineers with the design, development, integration, management and support of complex systems. Although you will be given responsibilities, proportional to the skills you have acquired throughout your career, you will be able to understand and report the programme status for activities within your particular discipline.

Your main responsibilities as a Product Safety Engineer will involve:

- Advise on product safety, ensuring every avenue is correctly considered, defined and implemented.
- Create studies and assessments, such as functional safety justifications and the production and maintenance of Safety Case documentation, in adherence with legal, industry and defence standards.
- Continuous improvements to be recognised and actively sought.

Necessary qualifications for the Product Safety Engineer:

- University Degree in a relevant STEM subject.
- Extensive knowledge of industry safety standards, such as Def Stan 00-56, IEC 61508 or similar.
- Working experience in safety engineering activities within the defence or maritime domain.
